CV FREQS is a series of events to allow the modular synth community to flourish, creating a platform for musicians and engineers to come together and network and to allow people to learn more about eachother's systems. The concept was founded by musician Eden Grey in 2013 in Portland, Oregon during her professional graduate internship with 4MS Company for her Masters' degree in Music Technology.
Eden Grey began the CV FREQS events out of an interest to learn more about these fascinating custom instruments. Eden continued organizing CV FREQS events in London for her PhD research from 2016-2019. In this time period, she organized 12 events at several different venues across London.
It was through a call for donations to fund CV FREQS XII, held in December 2019 in London, that Eden met Craig Clifford, an avid collector of Eurorack, an engineer and all-around synthesizer enthusiast. Craig and Eden built a friendship talking about music gear and Eurorack, and various ideas how to continue CV FREQS. Their first idea of starting a record label was brought to a halt because of the pandemic, but the most recent developments are to open a CV FREQS Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio where they can hold workshops and events.
